Homeowners can purchase an American Home Shield home warranty virtually anywhere in the United States. The company operates in every state except for Alaska. though there are some coverage limitations in Hawaii as well.

Like other home warranty providers, American Home Shield provides real estate warranty services. These are specialized plans that a realtor will usually purchase for a buyer or seller of a home Real estate plans may have reduced prices, but new homeowners must sign on to a plan within 90 days of closing to realize those savings.

American Home Shield reviews can be mixed. While some customers rave about the company's services. others balk at high service fees. slow response times. and a workmanship guarantee limited to only 30 days. The company currently has a B rating from the Better Business Bureau.
